Writing desk + JC3
2009

I wanted to explore the limitations of timber – whittling members back to their bare minimum while still retaining their strength (the desk top contains a honey-comb cardboard core to this effect). Profiles are shaped to achieve a minimum visual weight while the desk defines an open space beneath its floating top using a combination of curves. The chair compliments this space with minimum intrusion via the woven seat.

Desk:
Brushbox, Koto, honeycomb cardboard

Chair:
Jarrah, Cellerytop pine, carbon fibre rod, anodised aluminium, nylon coated woven stainless wire (superweld 90lb)
